15 Sweet Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Minneapolis

(Jan. 27, 2010) - Minneapolis - Meet Minneapolis, the Official Convention and Visitors Association, has boxed the sweetest collection of 15 ways to wow you and your valentine this Feb. 14. And like the best boxes of chocolates, Minneapolis has something for everyone's tastes. From great hotel deals to dining spots with spectacular views to a love story told by sock puppets, Minneapolis is overflowing with spectacular Valentine's Day events for Minneapolitans and visitors alike.

Meet Minneapolis in partnership with Underwater Adventures Aquarium will also be conducting a contest via their Facebook and Twitter pages. Fans and followers will be asked to send an e-mail or video describing their 'Minneapolis Love Story' for a chance to win a table for two at the Tunnel of Love Experience from Underwater Adventures Aquarium. The package includes an elegant three-course meal from Kokomo's Island Cafe, under the aquarium tunnel, complete with Champagne and aquarium admission. Guests can arrive one-half hour early for cocktails and reception. The package also includes two movie tickets to Theatres at Mall of America. May the best Minneapolis love story win!

Windows on Minnesota, www.marquettehotel.com Located on the 50th Floor of the IDS Tower, Windows on Minnesota offers a breathtaking view of the Minneapolis skyline. The restaurant will feature a romantic Valentine's Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For $24.95 per person, guests are treated to a spectacular view and delicious food, guaranteeing a great start to their Valentine's Day celebrations.

Cosmos, www.cosmosrestaurant.com Cosmos Restaurant, located in the chic Graves 601 Hotel, is one of Minneapolis' hotspots. Frequented by the city's hippest crowd, the restaurant will feature multiple specials this Valentine's Day. Guests can pick from a special five-course tasting menu for $60 per person or $98 per person with wine pairing or a seven-course tasting menu for $90 per person or $130 per person with wine pairing. The restaurant will also serve their regular dining menu. The specials will run from Feb. 12 - 14.

"he Brief Encounter" package includes two tickets to Brief Encounter Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. or 7 p.m., a 12-stem rose bouquet courtesy of Bachman's and a box of signature love chocolates from the Guthrie Store. If theater-goers want to kick it up a notch, then they should check out "The Dreamy Date" package. This includes two tickets to Brief Encounter (valid for any Sunday - Thursday performance in February), a three-course prix fixe dinner for two at Level Five Cafe at the Guthrie (valid for any Sunday - Thursday performance in February), a 12-stem rose bouquet courtesy of Bachman's and a box of signature love chocolates from the Guthrie Store. If guests want to extend their stay past curtain call, they can add a night at the aloft Minneapolis hotel to either package for $99 per night by calling 612.455.8400 and requesting the "Groovy Guthrie Rate"

The first is a great gift certificate offer - when guests purchase a $150 gift certificate, they receive a voucher for a complimentary glass of Champagne and cheese and cracker plate. Crave, www.cravemn.com Easily one of Minneapolis' hottest new restaurants, Crave will feature a special Valentine's Day menu at all three of their Twin Cities locations. In addition, each restaurant will have a limited number of dishes from their regular menu. Each location offers great after-dinner entertainment, as well. Whether guests hit up the Mall of America, the Galleria or the new Shops at West End, they are sure to be entertained throughout the night.

The Best Western Normandy Inn & Suites, www.bestwesternnormandy.com The Normandy provides the perfect opportunity for a mini-getaway without breaking the bank. The hotel is offering a two-person package that includes one night in a Deluxe King or Double Queen room, a single rose and four chocolate covered strawberries. The restaurant are offering a special Valentine's Day menu with aphrodisiac delights such as sea bass and Parisian gnocchi, as well as their normal dinner menu. The restaurant is situated amongst grand marble pillars and red blown glass chandeliers that create the perfect atmosphere for loved ones to relax and get closer than ever.

Spill the Wine, www.spillthewinerestaurant.com Nestled in the Mill District of Minneapolis, Spill the Wine is offering a sweet way to celebrate the one you love. They have created a five-course wine dinner for $50 per person starting at 7 p.m. Each course is paired with a wine specifically chosen to enhance the taste and dining experience. In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, www.hobt.org In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre is offering an alternative to the norm on Valentine's Day this year as it presents Sock Puppet Serenade by Kurt Hunter. This is one of the sweetest love stories you'll find this Valentine's Day weekend. The show creates a peculiar, touching and amusing world of marionettes in a series of short dances and dramas. Rock Bottom Brewery, www.rockbottom.com Located in the heart of the Hennepin Theatre District, Rock Bottom Brewery is eager to put on a culinary show for guests this Valentine's Day. A three-course menu will be offered for $24.95 featuring a sweet berry salad, followed by lobster or filet and finished off with a Valentine's must tres leches cake. Ladies will also receive a rose, while supplies last.

Underwater Adventures Aquarium, www.underwaterworld.com Underwater Adventures at the Mall of America is featuring an unbelievable package this Valentine's Day. For a total cost of $185 per couple, the Tunnel of Love Experience includes an elegant three-course meal from Kokomo's Island Cafe, under the aquarium tunnel, complete with Champagne and aquarium admission. Guests can arrive one-half hour early for cocktails and reception. The package also includes two movie tickets to Theatres at Mall of America. The Tunnel of Love Experience has two seating times on Feb. 14, one at 7:30 p.m. and another at 9:30 p.m.

For a fixed price of $29.95 for dinner on Saturday, Feb. 13, guests can enjoy a five-course gourmet meal from 5 to 9 p.m. in the cozy and sophisticated lower-level restaurant of the elegant Saint Paul Hotel. The Cafe will also be offering a sweet brunch deal on Sunday, Feb. 14. The brunch runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is only $21.95 per person. With the Landmark Center's outdoor ice arena and Rice Park next door, the M St. Cafe's location is ideal for after-dining activities.

Como Zoo, www.comozooconservatory.org The Como Zoo in coordination with the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is offering an alternative to giving a bouquet of flowers this Valentine's Day; dining amongst them. Candle-lit tables for two will line the North Garden, Palm Dome and Sunken Garden of the Conservatory Feb. 14 with seating available from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Couples will enjoy a three-course menu while listening to live music by the Baroque Trio. In the midst of winter, the Conservatory promises to whisk guests away to warmer times.
