Conventions to generate $11.3 million in direct spending

(MINNEAPOLIS) - Nov. 4, 2009 - Meet Minneapolis, Official Convention + Visitors Association, this month welcomes 20,794 convention and meeting attendees for Nov. 1 - 30, 2009, including the 5,000 attendees each of the 2009 Original Sewing & Quilt Expo and 2009 Minnesota Ski & Snowboard Expo.

Of the total number of conventioneers coming to Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Convention Center will host approximately 15,350 attendees from the education, financial and energy, grains & foods industries. The conventions coming to the center reflect an economic impact to downtown Minneapolis of approximately $6.5 million, benefiting hotels, restaurants, arts & culture institutions and attractions.
